ESCAPE THE ORDINARY

Turkish Ice Cream also known as Dondurma is commonly sold from both street vendors‘ carts and store fronts, where the mixture is churned regularly with long-handled paddles to keep it workable. Vendors often tease the customer by serving the ice cream cone on a stick, and then taking away the dondurma with the stick by rotating it around before finally giving it to the customer. That is the theatrics.

In truth the Ice Cream is unlike anything you have ever had before.

Its’s chewy ,sticky and resists to melting due to it’s unique traditional recipe

Turkish Ice Cream was first made in the early 1600’s in the region of Kahramanmaras in Turkey. It’s also known as Dondurma. Two qualities distinguish Dondurma; texture and resistance to melting.

the story

The Secret to Maras ice cream is the salep – or the dried, powdered root of an orchid that grows in Southern Turkey. Salep is what gives this ice cream its incredible creamy flavour and also these gravity-defying, melt-resistant qualities.

Being born and raised in the Ice Cream city of Kahramanmarasmaras ,Nev Bagriyanik decided to bring this unique taste to Australia. After working in various manufacturing plants in Maras ,Nev had learned many of the secret recipes in making the traditional Turkish Ice Cream.

We had icecream here but I have to say it wasn't my cup of tea. The icecreams here are very different and have like a gooey texture not your conventional creamy icecream. They do have a great variety of sweets and there were pretty good.

Just ate at Hakiki Newtown—my taste buds are still doing a happy dance, and my waistband is considering filing for divorce!

My first time trying Turkish ice cream and I was blown away! Hakiki's ice cream was very smooth and had a non-artificial sweetness to them unlike typical ice creams you would normally find.I tried the lemon, watermelon and Turkish delight and all were superb but I can definitely recommend the watermelon for everyone! The staff are also exceptionally nice and friendly, making everyone feel welcome. I will definitely return to try the other flavours!

It is a place where you can find Turkish style ice cream and baklava. Teas are served in classic tea glasses. It is also possible to serve with tea pots. It has friendly employees. The taste of desserts could have been a little better. I really liked the presentation plates.

We went for some authentic Turkish desserts after dinner and we definitely satisfied our craving. There a lot of options to choose from and tastes incredible! There were also a lot of people even on a weeknight

We wanted to try Turkish Icecream for the first time.Hakiki had come up on my Insta,so we thought we'd give it a go.Delicious tasting, thick, creamy & and so flavourful. We got the Haklava slice with ice cream sandwiched in between,2 cups of ice cream & various Baklava to take home & turkish delight(freshest & best I've ever had).* The only issue is that the parking is a nightmare, especially on a Friday night.
